This is a significant time to join The Makaton Charity as we embark on a new phase of growth and development. With a refreshed and ambitious strategy, we aim to double our impact by reaching more people, expanding our membership, strengthening financial sustainability, and driving innovation.
Makaton is a comprehensive communication programme that combines signs, symbols, and speech. More than 100,000 children and adults with learning or communication difficulties use Makaton every day, either as their main method of communication or to support their speech. Additionally, there is a wider network of 500,000 supporters, including parents, carers, educators and professionals who use Makaton to assist others in schools, health and social care services, community groups and across our international partners.
Several of our long-serving Trustees are reaching the end of their terms. We are now seeking three individuals with the expertise and commitment to join our Board as Trustees. We are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in:
- Finance
- Makaton practice or research, including safeguarding
- Digital systems, AI, and innovation
The Finance Trustee will be a qualified senior finance professional with significant experience of guiding organisations through periods of growth and change.
We are looking for Trustees who combine expertise with the time and commitment, to play an active role in our governance. This is an opportunity to use your skills and experience to help us empower communities and transform lives by enabling everyone to communicate successfully, using solutions that are effective and appropriate for them.
